福建莆田的薄壳山核桃

(一)引言:薄壳山核桃又名长山核桃,白核桃,或西洋山核桃,原产美国密士失必河下游及墨西哥湾各省。数十年前随着帝国主义侵入中国而引入我国种植。现在四川的成都,江苏的南京、江阴;浙江的杭州、嘉兴;及江西的南昌等地都有栽培。但在福建的莆田有薄壳山核桃的栽培,而且品质很好,则没有人报道过。薄壳山核桃种仁含油70%以上,自从周恩来总理1954年9月19日通令全国发展油类作物,同时着重指出,"在南方亚热带及热带地区,要发展油类果树如油棕,椰子等。"以后。江、浙等省,已大量繁殖推广,作为重点发展的果树。莆田有这种薄壳山核桃颇多,而且生长结果表现很好,倒无人注意,任其自生自灭。今天在全国范围内

Pecan is native in the valley along Mississippi River in America.The seeds of pecan were introduced to Putien from Georgia by Mr.J.F.Rossiter in 1923,and sowed in the school garden at Huangshih about 20 li from Putien city.in the winter of 1925 seedlings were distributed to Hankiang and Putien city from Huangshih,a few of these seedlings were carried to Hsineyu.
