STUDIES ON RESISTANCE OF PENICILLIUM DIGITATUM SACC.TO BENZIMIDAZOLE FUNGICIDES

In 1983~1984,4 strains of P.digitatum Sacc.were isolated and selected from diseased citrus in four different areas,where carbendazim had been used for 1,3,4,and 10 years respectively. Strains isolated from Taihe or Luogang where carbendazim had been used exclusively for 4 or 10 years were highly resistant,whereas those isolated from Dongguang or Chonghua where earbendazim had been used 1 or 3 years were still sensitive in vitro. Inoculation test showed that the resistant strains used carbendazim over 3 years were cross-resistant to thiophanate methyl,benomyl and thiabendazole.Imazol,SO-1.and Imazol+thiophanate methyl were effective to resistant and sensitive strains,whereas Imazol+chlerthalonil or thiabendazole,carbendazim appeared to be reduced the effectiveness, however,Imazol was recommended as a main substitute fungicide.
