Difference in Nitrogen Efficiency among Maize Genotypes

Interest in the N utilization efficiency of different maize genotypes has increased due to N pollution in the environment and the cost of N fertilizer.Thirty-five maize genotypes were selected to measure grain yield, N use efficiency and genotypic response to N fertilizer in a field experiment. At the same soil N level, significant differences were found in grain yield, N use efficiency and N responsivenessamong maize genotypes. Based on cluster analysis in N use efficiency and N responsiveness, maize genotypes can be classified into four types.These results are helpful for selecting maize germplsm with high N use efficiency and high N responsiveness simultaneously.
