Zhang Jiuling''s dismissal from prime minster and relegation to Jingzhou was not only a major political change of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, but also a sign of the disillusionment of his political ideals. He was more distressed and painful than he had been when banished to Hongzhou. His mind was filled with deep fillings of history, reality and his lot, with great worry and dissatisfaction of politics and reality, and with much perplexity about his life and experience. However, Zhang did not change his loyalty to the emperor, because his loyalty to the emperor and his loyalty to his ideals and dignity were, in a sense, consistent. Similar to the period he had been banished to Hongzhou, Zhang had a deep yearning for seclusion and the realm beyond the noisy world, but he was more of searching for the final destination of his body and soul when relegated to Jingzhou.
