Analysis of the Formation and Features of Dongshe Mountain Villa

Dongshe mountain villa is the hermitage of CHEN Ji-ru, who is a literati of Songjiang in late Ming Dynasty, and it is an important representative of Songjiang literati garden in Ming Dynasty. By studying Dongshe mountain villa, we can demonstrate the garden culture of Songjiang, and enhance the understanding of CHEN Ji-ru and Songjiang literati garden in Ming Dynasty. The formation process of Dongshe mountain villa was reviewed from the aspects of time and scale, and its garden features were showed by analyzing the layout, garden elements, space model and gardening technique, which can provide some reference for garden design today, especially the classical garden.
