Abstract:Cystine concentrations (g/16g N) in plant tissue declined more under S deficiency conditions than methionine. In N-balance trials with rats the negative effect of S deficiency on S amino acid composition of peas and cauliflower resulted in a corresponding decrease of the biological value of the protein.
