特早熟玉米夏播试验

An Experiment of Summer Seeding Early-ripe Corn

Some experiments on summer seeding early-ripe corn were carried out in 1996 and 1998. The experiments showed that the best maize varieties for summer seeding after wheat harvesting in the middle and north parts of Shanxi are those with the growing period of 80～85days and resistance to leaf blight, leaf spot, and maize dwarf mosaic. To the same early-ripe maize variety, the growing period is 8～9 days shorter sowing in summer than in spring. The growing period of hybrid seed is 3～4days shorter than its parents. The grain yield of summer seeding corn is higher than sewed in spring due to the large difference of temperature round the clock, pump grain, and high weight of thousand grains.
