Strategic Choices of Big Agricultural Development On Northwest Region of China

some strategic problems on northwest big agricultural development were discussed in the paper. Agricultural development is related to overall regional Economic development and should be given priority in northwest big economic development. Rural economic development is the foundation of ecological restoration and should have priority in the big agricultural development. The Ecological and economic effects of cash forestry, fruits and grass production are better than grain production on dry-land regions and should take them as key development measures of agriculture. The biological measures should be taken as primary approach and engineering measures as secondary one in soil and water conservation. The key limiting factor of northwest big agricultural development is water shortage, to develop high efficiency water-saving agriculture is the key content of northwest big agricultural development.
