A PRELIMINARY TESTON INTERPLANTIN GAMERICAN GRAIN AMARANTH IN RED SOIL WOODES

Two varieties of Grain Amaranth,Ki iz and R_(104), interplanted on red soil wood landshowed desirable adaptation to unfertile red soil , The yearly sampling of annual Cunninghamialanceolata companying Grain Amaranth was higher than that of the check,Which showed thatCunninghamia lanceolata interplanted with Grain Amaranth tends to complement each other.The growth in height and allomatic of Grain Amaranth interplanted with three year Meliaazedarach was similtary to that of the Grain Amaranth interplanted with Cunningharnia lanceo-lata, The Grain Amaranth interplanted with Melia azedarach acheived more biomass but lessfruit than that with Cunninghamia lanceolata. Hence when interplanting Grain Amaranth inwoods some factors such as species,age canopy, etc. should be considered and the manner ofculturing and utilizating Grain Amaranth should be adopted according to the conditions of thewoods.
