Abstract:The genetic mechanism of Bentazon susceptible lethality (BSL) of Norin 8 m was studied. The results showed that BSL of Norin 8 m was controlled by one pair of recessive nuclear genes. The Bentazon susceptible lethality would be useful in hybrid rice in the following aspects: a) ensuring the purity of hybrid seeds by transferring the BSL gene into MS lines; b) increasing outcrossing rate and mechanizing the hybrid seed production by transferring the BSL gene into restorer lines.
