Abstract:Quorum-sensing refers to the process where bacteria, which live either in harmony or in antagonism with their symbolic hosts or competitors, use molecule signal to "talk to each other" in order to "feel" the concentration of the group and to induce expressions of some cell density dependent genes. This paper expatiates on the types of quorum-sensing of bacteria, effects of signal molecules and their prospects of utilization.
