| Abstract: | The present paper explores two of the most important linguistic concepts proposed by Grice--conversational implicature and cooperative principle, to analyze and deduce the implied meanings of the speeches chosen from CET-4 short conversations. The application of these two concepts in teaching practice is beneficial for English teachers, because they can help promote students' comprehension by analyzing the listening material from the perspective of pragmatic deduction. |
