Current Condition and prospect of Computer Application in Forostry

The article briefly introduces the. current situation and potential of computer application in forest management, felling and transportation, timber processing industry and forest information technique. The author considers that computer application is expanding from scientific calculation and single purpose management to systematic management. China now starts an upsurge of computer application. Although the scope of its application becomes more and more wide, and the speed of development becomes more and more fast, it lacks unified planning and guidance of national level,and the technical force is weak. It is suggested to fast furmulate a national development plan, to vigorously train professional personnel, to develop energetically the application technique of microcomputer and to establish computer network.
