Abstract: | An acanthocephalan parasite, Mediorhynchus gallinarum, is a relatively common parasite of village fowls in Papua and New Guinea. The highest incidence (25%) were recorded from the West Irian border areas during a recent survey of approximately 120 birds. The life cycle is unknown and the parasite is not considered to be of major economic significance even in heavy infections. |
