| Abstract: | The compatibility of 4 bamboo species from Hunan province was examined by monitoring hydration parameters of temperature and time required for reaching maximum temperature. The effects of treatments including cold-water, hot-water, 1% NaOH extraction of components in bamboo, and of chemical additives on the hydration characteristics of bamboo-cement mixtures were also studied. The data presented in this paper showed that 4 bamboo species in this study had a high inhibitory characteristics. If the bamboo is going to be used as raw material for cement particleboard, the material must be pretreated. |
