Abstract: | A tiletamine-zolazepam mixture was administered subcutaneously at doses of 2.5 mg/kg, 5.0 mg/kg and 7.5 mg/kg to fifty-nine cats. The response to drug administration, effect on heart rate, pulse quality, respiratory rate and temperature, and intensity and duration of sedation were recorded. As the tiletamine-zolazepam dose was increased, intensity and duration of sedation increased. At the lowest dose, some cats became excited rather than sedated. Heart rate and respiratory rate changed minimally, but body temperature decreased. |
