An overview on the nutrient requirements and diet formulation guideline of beef cattle

This paper summaries the key contents of "nutrient requirements of beef cattle" issued by NRC in 1996,and especially includes the new advanced research in this subject after 1996 based on describing and tabulating.At the same time,it describes simply the features of the ingredients common used by beef cattle and the insuffiency status of some minerals in typical diets that could occur.It also indicates the characteristics of data in the table of feed composition and nitirtive values of beef cattle and some questions to be given attention in using it.At last,the author believes that,only by integrating beef cattle nutrient requirements and feed composition data into a diet formulation system through software programming and linear programming techniques and optimizing diet production formulations of beef cattle,it can achieve the final purpose for both studying the nutrient requirements and assessing feedstuff nutritive values.
