Report on Determining Residues of Organochlorine Pesticides in Vegetables and Soils in Shenyang City

Organochlorine pesticide is one of the high residuary pesticides. Although it has been forbidden to be used for many years, but probably still remains in natural environment and threghtens the people's health. In 1987, we inspected the state of organochlorine pesticide residue (O. P.R.) in soils and in vegetables in some areas of Shenyang City. We collected 14 soil samples &16 vegetables samples. The amount of O.P.R in them was detemined by Gas chromatography. The results showed that there were still O. P. R. both in soils and in vegetable samples: the average amounts of them were 0. 02--0. 90ppm. They are within the allowable safety limit. Only in a few of these sampies 3.45% the amount was a little higher. It showed that O. P. R. is not a serious problem to affect the people's health in Shenyang.
