Effects of Calcium in Physiology and Metabolism of Fruit Crops

Calcium is an important mineral nu trient.Many of the signal-induced responses are mediated by Ca 2 .Increased Ca 2 in the cytoplasm can affect diverse physiological processes through the acti on of calmodulin,a ubiquitous Ca 2 -binding protein.It plays an important role in physiology and metabolism of fruit trees.The progress in the study on calcium nutrition of fruit trees is reviewed in this paper.The main contents include calcium shape and distributin g,absorption and transporta-tion,calcium physiological function,action in ad versity as well as the effect on plant hormone and fruit quality,and put for-ward the feasible measures to improve calcium content.
