Abstract: | Summary Studies on distribution and abundance of some Acariformes mites in two coniferous Bavarian forestsThe populations of mites of the order Acariformes inhabiting the soil of 2 Bavarian forests were studied during a period of 12 months. Attention was drawn to the differences in the species composition of the forests and nurseries of the two sites of study. Thirteen species were collected representing the suborders Prostigmata and Astigmata. The most abundant species belonged to the suborder Cryptostigmata (Oribatei). The population of the Acariformes fluctuated with time, and some differences occurred in the patterns of variation shown by different species. In forests, autumn and winter maxima were observed, while in nurseries summer maxima were also obtained. |
