Study on Carbon Storage of Castanopsis kawakamii Plantation

Objective]To study the carbon storage of Castanopsis kawakamii plantation.Method]The distribution of carbon storage of 27-years-old Castanopsis kawakamii plantation in Weidu forest farm of Guangxi Province was studied by standard tree method and quadrat harvest method.Result]The carbon storage of 27-years-old Castanopsis kawakamii plantation was rich,the carbon storage of stand was 340.25 t/hm²,the carbon storage of tree layer,shrub layer,herb layer,litter layer and soil layer were 128.21,0.11,0.18,3.76 and 207.99 t/hm²respectively.The tree layer accounted for the largest proportion of carbon storage in the vegetation layer,accounting for 96.94%,of which the aboveground and underground carbon storage of the cone accounted for 76.02%and 20.91%respectively.Conclusion]The carbon storage of Castanopsis kawakamii plantation is rich and can be used as a better carbon sink tree species.
