The author briefly reviews the principles of oxygen flux measurements and then describes the laboratory technique uses, the materials (soils) considered and the choice of effective tension. Current intensity is shown to vary with soil moisture. The author measures current fluctuations as a function of temperature, thus enabling calculation of activation energies. The author shows that the reduction current obtained could hardly be controlled by activation polarisation.
