From Royal Queens Ethics to Folk Family Ethics and the Meanings of Marriage: An Analysis of Zhouli Zhi Taipinglun-Neizhi by Li Gou.

Seven articles from Neizhi included in Zhouli zhi Taipinglun, by Li Gou in North Song Dynasty focused on the discussions of royal officials and their functions from Zhouli. Consequently, these articles expressed Li Gou''s views of royal life, royal politics, queens'' ethics, as well as folk family ethics. All these arguments can be concluded as historical memories, queens'' virtues, the revivalist appeal of Gongjin System, queens'' teachings and taboos of Harem life, ritual roles of queens, ethical rules for daughters of members of imperial families, and meanings of marriages. It is clear that Li Gou tended to raise the idea of "one who wants to govern the country must govern his family well first" and "one who fails to govern well his family will fail to govern the country" in combination of historical lessons of success and failure. All the analysis demonstrates the unique style of Li Gou in interpreting classical works in Chinese history.
