Abstract:The physiological responses of tea plant to threes different water supply levels and drought stress were investigated. The changes of the net photosynthetic (Pn),the transpiration rate (Tr),the stomata conductance (Gs) and the intercellular CO 2 concentration (Ci) under high (H),moderate (M) and low (L) soil moisture regimes were:Pn,M>H>L;Tr,H>M>L;Gs,H>L>M;Ci,L>H>M.Pn,Tr and Gs gradually decreased but Ci increased with the time of drought stress. The contents of Proline (Pro) in leaf were enhanced significantly during drought stress. Under low level drought stress,there was a positive correlation between accumulation rate of Pro and drought tolerance. The endogenous ABA accumulated rapidly and Gs and Tr declined under drought stress. which alleviated drought injury.
