长江江豚的饲养和观察

Study on biology of finless porpoise from Yangtze river in captivity

This paper reports the results of observations and experiment about the behavior, food and control of diseases on a finless porpoise in the poll. In captivity, the finless porpoise can assume several swimming postures such as rolling. jump- ing. sidestroking, upright-rising and sliding except normal posture. Its respiratory intervals are usually between 10 and 20 seconds, the shortest is 3 seconds and the longest is 43 seconds. From 3 to 8pm. the respiratory interval is slightly longer than that of other time. The speed of swimming of the finless porpoise is generally 1. 3 meters per second. Daily food consumption is approximately 10% of its body weight. The finless porpoise is opportunistic feeder utilizing various kinds of available fishes, Its diseases may be cured according to the kind and dosage of medicines used on livestock.
