Abstract:Ultra low volume sprays were applied from above a field bean crop canopy, withim it, and within it when wire cages were fitted around the nozzles, to part foliage away from the droplet cloud. Subsequently, the evenness of spray droplet distributions on leaves was evaluated. With spinning disc sprayers, the droplet distribution between upper and lower leaf surfaces was made more even by in-canopy application. The vertical distribution of large droplets was much less even from an in-canopy application than from one above it, though the cage remedied this somewhat. The distribution of electrostatically charged droplets was least affected by the changes.
