Abstract:MADS box gene HoSEP1 from Hyacinth(Hyacinthus orientalis) is homologous to gene SEP from Arabidopsis thalianas.In order to study the effect of this gene in homeotic transformation between leaf and floral organs,Petunie hybrida was genetically modified with using the expression vector of HoSEP1 which had been build.ThroughRT-PCR transgenic plants with HoSEP1 gene were detected and the morphogenesis of them in vitro was analyzed to determine the function of HoSEP1.The results show that the leaves of transgenic plants in vitro are petal-like and have carpel-like structures.This prove that overexpression of HoSEP1 has realized the homeotic transformation from leaf to flower,and this research provides new proof to the molecular mechanism of HoSEP1 in flower development.
