Abstract:In recent years, the study of ecological dimorphism (or polymorphism) of scale insectshas been developed rapidly, which has provided important basis for identifying some relat-ed species or genera. The adult female of the species Asterodiaspis variabile (Russell) hadecological dimorphism under the influence of different parts (stems or leaves) of its planthost by artificially transferring first instar nymphs in light of the study on morphology ofadult females and first instar nymphs. The morphology of leaf-form, stem-form adult fe-males and first instar nymphs is described and drawed. The main differences betweenleaf-form and stem-form adult females as follows:(1) Leaf-form adult female is circular,obviously larger than the stem-form. (2) The dorsal 8-shaped pores of the leaf-form arefewer than those of the stem-form. The morphology of first instar nymphs under twoforms of adult females is unique.
