Abstract: | A literature survey is given of the five European honey mushrooms Armillaria mellea, A. borealis, A. bulbosa, A. cepistipes, and A. obscura (syn. A. ostoyae) (corresponding respectively to Korhonen's intersterile groups D, A, E, B, and C); two forms of A. cepistipes are discussed: the tiny A. cepistipes f. cepistipes from Czechoslovakia and West Germany and the more common A. cepistipes f. pseudo-bulbosa Romagnesi et Marxmüller. Nomenclature, geographical distribution, hosts, some characteristics, and practical importance (including pathogenicity) are treated. |
