The author hold the point of view that the multivariate genetic analysis is to apply the multivariate statistical analysis methods onto the study of genetic problems of quantitative traits in the field of crop genetics and breeding. The methods include cluster analysis, princiapal components analysis, canonical correlations analysis and factor analysis, etc. The author, based on the documents of multivariate genetic analysis, summarized of its current situation and developing tendency, and discussed the problems existed. It is believed that the multivariate genetic analysis could play a very important role in the field of crop genetics and breeding.
