Abstract:In greenhouse and field experiments amendment ofVerticillium infested field soil with chopped barley straw at rates of 0.4–1.6% by weight reduced theVerticillium population and the amount of infection of potato plants grown in the amended soil. The addition of nitrate or ammonium nitrogen did not alter the effectiveness of the straw amendment.
