华南红壤山区野生高产优质牧草——金色狗尾草Setaria lutescens(Weig.)F.T.Hubb的研究

<正> 金色狗尾草(Setaria Lutescens(Weig)F.T.Hubb)是分布在华南红壤山区的山坡、田野、园地、路旁的一种常见散生的禾本科牧草,有的还形成纯一的群落。1980年5月,我们从福建中部搜集该种牧草种子进行试种,发现它具有高产优质、繁殖速度快、适应性强的特点。1981年正式进行小区驯化试验和大田示范生产,1982年开始大面积推广。现将试验研究结果报告如下。

HIGH QUALITY FORAGE SETARIA LUTESCENS GROWN WILD ON THE MOUNTAINOUS RED EARTH IN SOUTH CHINA

Setaria lutescens(Weig.) F. T. Hubb grows rampantly on the mountainous red earth of Southern Yangtze River. It is an annual grass that sprouting,illering in the early spring and ready to cut or for grazing in the last (?)en-day period of March, but the exuberant growth period lies in the late summer and the early autumn. The mu production of green forage amounts to 5000 kg. per year. However, it settled well on slopes, flats and cultivated or not cultivated lands. If the soil is fertilized, the harvest may increase to 7500 kg. The leaves of the grass are thick, rich of pith and rather sweet. The cattle, goat, rabbit and fish, were very fond of it and the utility ratio was 96%. It's nutrient value is similar to timothy grass. The lysine content is about 1.09%. The unfavorable characters of this grass are that it has an overwintering period and also grows poorly on barren soil.
