Abstract: | Hypocalcemia was believed to be the result of aggressive sodium bicarbonate treatment for a cat with aspirin intoxication. The cat developed progressive neuromuscular tetany during the bicarbonate treatment and was determined to have a low serum ionized calcium value. |
