| Abstract: | Haematological and blood serum chemical changes were studied in two groups of specific pathogen free chickens infected at five weeks old with different field isolates of infectious bursal disease virus. Blood and serum components were determined five days after infection. There were significant decreases (P less than 0.05) in the total erythrocyte count, packed cell volume, haemoglobin concentration, albumin, albumin: globulin ratio, uric acid and glucose. Serum components which increased significantly (P less than 0.05) were globulins and cholesterol. |
