Evidence for the recovery of the waters off the east coast of Nova Scotia from the effects of a major oil spill

Abstract:The background levels of residual oils in the Western North Atlantic off the east coast of Nova Scotia decreased from approximately 6 to about 2 μgl?1 during May 1970 to January 1971 following a major spill of Bunker C fuel oil from the tanker ARROW which was wrecked in Chedabucto Bay, Nova Scotia on February 4, 1970.
