Introduction and quick propagation of rootstocks of tree roses

From the history of tree roses,this paper summarizes the situation of the use of their rootstocks in the world and the possibility of introduction and domestication. In North America and Europe, the applications of tree roses are very widespread.Their rose resources and breeding are different,so they use some different rootstocks.In North America, people usually use Rosa multiflora' varieties or cultivars as tree roses' rootstocks,while in Europe people usually use Rosa rugosa and Rosa canina ‘Pfander' as stocks.Two main methods of tree roses rootstocks' propagation are discussed: tissue culture and cuttage. The latter is often used in production, and the mist propagation is particularly applied in commercial large-scale production. At last, the ways of forstering tree roses are briefly introduced.
