Abstract: | Neospora caninum is a protozoan parasite that was first described in dogs in 1988. Subsequently the parasite has been associated with abortion in cattle. Evidence is accumulating that neosporosis is a major cause of reproductive failure in cattle all over the world. Recent knowledge of neosporosis is reviewed with emphasis on the diagnosis and epidemiology of the disease in cattle. In addition, attention is paid to strategies for disease control and prevention. |
