Abstract: | Candida albicans infection of the plantar region of the digit was diagnosed in a mute swan (Cygnus olor). Diagnosis was based on histological examination and on cultures. The pathogenicity of the C. albicans isolate was proven by inoculation in laboratory animals. Oral treatment with ketoconazole resulted in complete clinical recovery; no relapse occurred during a sixteen-month follow-up period. |
