A new early watermelon hybrid special for grafting-Chun No.1

Chun No. 1,a new early hybrid watermelon with excellent quality is special for grafting and derived from new materials which were tolerant to low-temperature and adapted to grafting. Chun No. 1 can overcome the defects,such as thick rind,hollow and abnormality generally caused by grafting. Globe fruit covered with wax is dark green rind with thin stripes. It is about 28 days from flowering to harvest. Plant grows fast at early stage and is easy to set fruit. The average fruit weight is about 7-8 kg. The central sugar content is above 12%,while the sugar content at the side is above 9%. Red flesh is crisp.Chun No. 1 shows resistance to disease and has adapted well to long distance shipping. It is suitable to grow for grafting as well as for early harvest in the protected field.
