Cell apoptosis is an autonomic ordered programmed cell death in order to maintain homeostasis, which is controlled by multiple genes. Cell apoptosis plays a key role in the tissue differentiation, organ development and individual homeostasis in multicellular organisms. Cell apoptosis can promote the cells death which are infected or injuried,and remove them out of the body; clinically cell apoptosis and many diseases are directly related. The proteins of Bcl-2 family that involved in cell apoptosis are important regulatory molecules, can both suppress and promote cell apoptosis. So the members of Bcl-2 protein family and its structure feature, the relationship between Bcl-2 protein family and cell apoptosis, and its biological significance are mainly discussed.
