Abstract:This study was undertaken in field. The yield per 667m~2 for cucumber was 7151Kg by mulching and increased 23. 2% over control. Film mulching can significantly promote dry matter accumulation and various nutrient uptake of cucumber plants at the early stage of growth and development, and both increased 75. 0% and 79. 2% (average for five elements) compared with control, respectively at early blooming stage. The uptake peak of nutrient elements treated by mulching happened from harvesting to fully harvesting stage and prior to control, uptake intensity of five elements was on average of 420. 0 g/667mz. d and increased 40. 1% over control. Film mulching can also increase applying fertilizer capacity of soil, especially at the early stage of vegetative growth. This is correnspondent with rapid growth and much nutrient uptake at the early stage of growth and development, but uptake rate was largely different in various elements and CaO and MgO contents of them were higher than control from beginning to end, whereas K_2O content was lower than control.
