Abstract:The effects of artificial plowing and reseeding(deep tillage,shallow tillage,no-tillage,with supplemeat of 30 kg/hm2),and deep tillage with supplementing(7.5 kg/hm2,15.0 kg/hm2 and 22.5 kg/hm2)on soil carbon and nitrogen reserves were explored in desert steppe of Ningxia.The results showed that the contents of soil organic carbon and total nitrogen were increased in 0~10 cm soil layer in the control group(enclosure without artificial supplementing).In 10~20 cm and 20~40 cm soil layers,the soil organic carbon content was increased in deep tillage treatment,and the total nitrogen content was increased in deep tillage and deep tillage with artificial supplementing(15.0kg/hm2)treatments.The ratio of C to N in 0~10 cm soil layer was increased in deep tillage,deep tillage with artificial supplementing(7.5 kg/hm2 and 15.0 kg/hm2),and control groups.The ratio of C to N in 10~20 cm soil layer was increased in shallow tillage and deep tillage with artificial supplementing(15.0 kg/hm2)treatments.The deep tillage with artificial supplementing(30.0kg/hm2)was more conductive to soil organic carbon and nitrogen reserves than other treatments.However,from the prospective of operability and cost,the enclosure without artificial supplementing was also conductive to soil organic carbon and total nitrogen reserves in the short term.Therefore,to balance local grassland ecological construction and sustainable development,long-term monitoring should be strengthened with combination of appropriate degraded grassland restoration methods.
