Abstract:Plant wilt disease triggered by pathogenic Fusarium oxysporum infecting plant is a devastating soil borne fungal disease that is widespread in the world, and the fungi are currently ranked as the fifth most phytopathogenic fungi in the world. Because the pathogen is transmitted through the soil, its pathogenic mechanism has not been fully defined, and a full understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of F. oxysporum is a prerequisite for combating this disease. To better explore and implement the effective control strategies and thus limit host plant infection, this review concludes the pathogenesis of F. oxysporum, summarizes the contribution of cell wall degrading enzymes, toxins, signaling pathways (MAPK pathways) in virulence factors to the pathogenic process, and analyzes the regulatory mechanisms of virulence genes and transcription factors during infection. It is hoped to provide targets and rationale for controlling wilt diseases caused by F. oxysporum.
