Abstract: | Previous methods of harvesting apples mechanically are reviewed briefly. A novel method of removing apples by a combing technique is then discussed. The design of a prototype harvester capable of harvesting dessert quality fruit continuously from hedgerow type trees, utilizing this combing technique, is described in detail. |
