Abstract:Clostridium novyi is a significant cause of sudden death in sows and fattening pigs. The aim of this trial was to compare the effect of sudden death prevention between two commercial vaccine: vaccine H (a triple vaccine against enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens type C and Clostridium novyi) and vaccine Z (a bivalent vaccine against Clostridium perfringens type A and type C).This trail was performed with 2 400 fattening pigs (1 200 every group) in a northern breeding farm. The results demonstrated that: 3.25 percent reduction of the mortality presented in group of vaccine H, 2 percent reduction in group of vaccine Z. The mortality of sudden death caused by C.novyi has been significantly reduced. The economic benefits was improved effectively.
