图形符号溯源

图形符号的产生可以追溯到纪元前远古时代的象形文字、图画文字、古代图画和图腾。随着人类社会不断进化,图画以及图画文字分成三支源流,一支演进为象形文字并逐渐被表意文字和表音文字所替代;另一支演变为绘画(艺术绘画和技术绘画);第三支发展为文字的补充手段——标志、标徽等各种图形符号。本文试图从图形符号的历史发展,明确其特有的作用。

TRACING BACK TO THE SOURCES OF GRAPHICAL SYMBOLS

The generation of graphical symbols may be iracid back to the hieroglyphics, pictographs, ancient pictures and totems more than 4000 years B. C0 With the continuous evolution of the human society, ancient pictures and pictographs are divided into three branches. One evolves to the hieroglyphics, and is replaced gradually by the ideogram and phonogram^ another branch develops into the drawing of art as well as technical drawings; and the third advances to the supplementary means of characters-marks, badges, etc. and other various graphical symbols. This paper also makes clear the special function of graphical symbols from historical development.
