| Abstract: | Abstract 310 pieces of Puccinia spesimens collected from the Northeastern Region of China were examined. The number of species and varieties of Puccinia identified totals 69, including 1 new variety: Puccinia iridis (DC.) Wallr. var. polyporis W. C. Liu, Pai et Song, 2 new records for China: Puccinia pimpinellae-brachycarpae Tranzsch. et Eremceva and Puccinia polygoni-amphibii Pers. var. convolvuli (A. &. S.) Arth., and 8 species first reported in the Northeastern Region of China. These rust fungi parasitize separately plants distributed among 59 genera of 17 families. In addition, studies on the surface structure of urediniospores and teliospores of some representative species by Scanning Electron Microscope were made. Such problems presenting in the investigation as observation methods, species concepts and taxonomic criteria in Puccinia are discussed in this paper. |
