Abstract: | A survey of the occurrence of insecticide or fumigant resistant strains of stored-product insects is given. Studies on the geographic distribution of insecticide-resistant strains show that some resistances are localised and others almost universal. Cross-resistance has been studied in few strains, but malathion resistance may involve resistance to other organo-phosphorus compounds in at least 6 species. Although resistance to pyrethroids and juvenile hormone analogues is known, these compounds show promise for future use against storage pests. |
