The article takes making the Thematic Maps in Population Density of Weinan City as an example to study the process,extracting the required spatial data and statistical data from a scanned maps and Statistical Yearbook on the basis of ArcGIS 9.2 professional software,and then editing for these spatial data and attribute data,and finally making and outputting the plans in the software.In general,ArcGIS 9.2 is applied to the process of the data visualization and cartography,which have big advantages in accurately positioning spatial information,identifying appropriately attribute information,and mapping clearly and beautifully the results.In addition,the process with high technological content can effectively improve the mapping efficiency,which have great significance for the related cartographic work.
