Abstract:An investigation was made in October 2010 to study the community structures of macrobenthos in Xiquanyan reservoir and their relationships with environmental factors by the method of field investigation in combining with Bray-Curtis analysis,multi-dimensional scaling analysis and canonical correspondence analysis,and using the indices of McNaughton index,Margalef,Shannon-Wiener,Pielou and Goodnight-Whitley,aiming to provide a biological basis for water quality protection and management.A total of 50 macrobenthos species were collected,among which 41 species(82% of total) were arthropods,7 species(14%) were annelids,and 2 species(4%) were mollusks.The dominant species were Hydropsyche nakaharai,Cenocorixa hungerford,Chironomus sinicus and Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri.The thirteen sites were classified into four groups.The biodiversity was poor in the first group;the second one had the highest biodiversity,followed by the third group;no macrobenthos were collected in the forth group.The spatial distribution of the macrobenthos was also affected by various environmental factors,among which permanganate index,total phosphorus,NH3-N and NO-2-N were dominant.
